The bats were silent much of the day at Maryvale Baseball Park. But Linden Tran conjured up just enough offense to carry the Gauchos past the Kissimmee Kumquats, 2-1. Tran went 4-4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. Kissimmee's current losing streak has reached 5 games.

With Glendale leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Tran hit a run-scoring single off Kissimmee hurler John Ramos. It was the 24th hit of the season for Tran and put his team ahead, 2-0.

In comments to the Glendale Observer, Tran admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
