Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Hollywood Spoonbills were eager to watch Albert Marchand square off against Van Barclay of the visiting Daytona Beach Hurricanes. In the end, the Spoonbills won the game, 6-0, with Albert Marchand leading the way. Marchand, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Donovan Chatman earned the save for Hollywood, his 1st of the year.

Von Pinion was 2-5 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs for Hollywood. The 20-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Hilton Garland. It was his 2nd RBI of the season.
