Geckos Drop Salamanders, 7-6
|
Scottsdale right fielder Clifford Wise had a good game, even if his team did not. The Salamanders dropped a 7-6 decision to Gilbert at Hohokam Park. Wise was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The Geckos, at 42-25, sit in first place in the Arizona Rookie League South Division.
T.J. Robbins was 1 for 4 with a walk for Gilbert. The 19-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring walk off Deacon DiFrancesco. It was his 21st walk of the season.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Robbins told the Gilbert News.
