Hialeah picked up a win at Space Coast Stadium, toppling the Tempe Impalas, 9-8. Pitcher Evaristo Pichardo was one of the reasons the Gales triumphed. Pichardo, now 2-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 4, and allowing 4 runs. Joachim Heller recorded the save, his 7th.

The Gales got an important contribution from designated hitter Thomas Thao, who in the bottom of the fourth punched a first pitch fastball into left for a grand slam home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Gales ahead, 6-1.

"Winning a ballgame these days," losing manager Jeff Llewellyn told reporters, "is harder than big game hunting without a gun."

Tempe is in the throes of a 11-game losing streak.
