In a low-scoring contest between the Yuma Gnomes and the Gilbert Geckos, 19-year old right-handed pitcher Vicente Nicasto proved to be the difference. The Yuma right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Gnomes win. Getting the save was Marty Wagner, his 3rd. Yuma goes to 22-43, Gilbert to 33-32.

Christian Hill, who is tied for 10th in the AZL in bases on balls with 32, had a direct impact on the outcome. Hill contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fourth inning to put Yuma up, 2-1.

"Tough loss," said Gilbert manager Tyler Wood. "The kind that burns a little inside."
