Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Gilbert Geckos and Flagstaff Blue Devils.

In a low-scoring affair between the Gilbert Geckos and the Flagstaff Blue Devils, pitcher Jared Casey was the difference between victory and defeat. The Gilbert right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 2-1 Geckos win. The win hiked the Gilbert record to 40-26.

Had Sidney Mead not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Mead hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Geckos.

"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Casey.
