Hummingbirds Rally Late to Nip Swordfish
|
In a close game at Surprise Stadium, the Sierra Vista Hummingbirds edged the Florence Swordfish, 3-2. Sierra Vista second baseman Harlan Stockton stood apart with his performance. He went 4-4 with 4 singles, while scoring 2 times. The save went to Jesse Romo, number 4 for him. The Hummingbirds win now puts them at 28-35.
Had Samuel Quixote not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Quixote hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Hummingbirds.
In postgame comments to the Sierra Vista Gazette, Quixote said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
