Blue Devils Get Clutch Win Versus Tempe
|
The Tempe Impalas got a superb performance from pitcher Bobby Schultz, but the Flagstaff Blue Devils still won the game, 2-1. Schultz threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball. The winner was Collin Sheppeard in relief. His record improves to 3-4. Sam Ives took the loss. Flagstaff has won 5 consecutive games.
Flagstaff got a clutch hit from Ikenna Abdul-Malik. The left fielder launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.
"Fun game," said Abdul-Malik, "even when the outcome was in doubt."
