Sun Dogs Bang Out 9-3 Win Versus Hollywood
|
The Miramar Sun Dogs beat the Hollywood Spoonbills, 9-3, at Roger Dean Stadium. Douglas Colón, in particular, was impressive. He went 4 for 4 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Nick Kitka, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-0. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 1 run, while striking out 3 and walking 1. At 20-8, the Sun Dogs find themselves in first place in the Florida Rookie League Southeast Division.
The 20-year old center fielder Aaron Hall tried to rally his team in the top of the second inning. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Hollywood trailing 1-0, Hall hit a run-scoring single. But that was all she wrote for Hollywood. "Hall had a nice at-bat," said manager Jordan Ranjel. "Otherwise, we had a shortage of hits when it counted."
