Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Chandler Ranchers and Scottsdale Salamanders.

Scottsdale got a decent performance from pitcher Joseph Ferreyra, but it wasn't enough to beat the Chandler Ranchers. Chandler won the Hohokam Park contest, 5-3. Ferreyra threw 6.1 innings allowing 4 runs for the losing team. Del Castrejon recorded the save, his 7th.

Alexander Nelson contributed to the Chandler win with a solo home run in the top of the second. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.

"This is truly a great team to play with," Nelson said after the game. "We're like brothers, and when we come together to pull out the win, that just makes it all the better."

The Ranchers improved to 36-22.
