Guest Mariners Win, 6-2, at Chicago
|
Errol Medrano was superb against Chicago. The right-hander, who is tied for 9th in the WEST with a 2.08 ERA, had a splitter that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Mariners victory. The score was 6-2. In 6 innings, Medrano surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 12 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. The Mariners, now 25-6, have played some good baseball in the early going.
The Mariners got a big at-bat from right fielder Kent Niemann. For the game, Niemann went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Seattle a 2-0 lead.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Niemann.
