The Gilbert Geckos clobbered the Buckeye Quahogs, 12-2, at Camelback Ranch. Gilbert shortstop Dallas Carlson led the onslaught. He was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. Leo Phan nailed down his 1st save. Gilbert is now 26-18, while Buckeye is 5-39.
With Gilbert leading 8-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Carlson came up to bat against Buckeye pitcher Bartholo Soto. Carlson hit a sinker to center for a grand slam home run. His 7th home run of the season put the Geckos on top, 12-2.
Said Buckeye manager Brendon Brown after the blowout loss: "They did pretty much every facet of the game better than we did and that's why we lost."
