Salamanders Drop 5-2 Decision to Roughnecks
|
Ahwatukee registered a win at Hohokam Park by beating the Scottsdale Salamanders, 5-2. Pitcher Aiden Stegenga was one reason why the Roughnecks triumphed. In 6 innings, Stegenga surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Ahwatukee occupies second place in the Arizona Rookie League South Division at 25-17.
It could have been a different outcome for Ahwatukee, had it not been for Wesley Pauly, the 18-year old second baseman . Pauly contributed a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put Ahwatukee up, 4-1.
Said Ahwatukee manager Ray Badgerow: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
