|
Phoenix Armadillos starter Braxton Vaughn hurled his team past the Buckeye Quahogs, 5-1. Vaughn got the win, improving to 3-1. He gave up 6 hits and walked 0 over 5.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Jalen White earned the save, his 2nd.
Phoenix used a clutch at-bat from Dan Gamble to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Armadillos ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Braxton did a nice job," said Armadillos manager Paul Smith.
The victory gives Phoenix a record of 26-16.
