Close Win Moves Torts to 18-20
|
The Kingman Torts picked up a win at Scottsdale Stadium, downing the Bullhead City Catfish, 6-5. On the mound for Kingman was left-hander Alexander Laird, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winning pitcher was Laird, now 2-0. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 4. The Torts move to 18-20 with the win, while the Catfish drop to 20-18.
Kingman shortstop Gustavo Rodríguez landed a blow when he belted a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth. It was his 5th home run of the season. With it, the Torts took a 6-0 lead.
"Glad to go home with a win," said Rodríguez.
