Gauchos Take Tight Tilt, 2-1

Maryvale Baseball Park hosted a real pitchers' duel.
Starting pitcher Edward White did his part in helping the Glendale Gauchos thwart the Gilbert Geckos, 2-1. White, now 1-2, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Picking up the save was 19-year old right-handed pitcher Flint Shay.
The Gauchos got a gift in the bottom of the sixth inning, when they were leading 1-0. With two out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Billy Stokes reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 1 run. It made the score 2-0, Glendale.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Gilbert manager Jason Blahut.
With the victory, the Gauchos upped their record to 19-15.
