The Erwin Mountaineers stymied the Burlington Sock Puppets, 2-0, at Ballpark of Edmonton. Rich Mays had a good day at the plate. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk for Erwin. The winner was Stan Mason in relief. His record improves to 4-2. Phil Reaves took the loss. Erwin raised its record to 34-20 with the win.
With Erwin leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Mays hit a fastball from Morris Morris for a solo home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Mountaineers ahead, 2-0.
"This was a game where every at-bat, every pitch counted," said Mays.
