Black Diamonds Wrest Win from Stampede, 3-1
|
Lethbridge and Medicine Hat took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
Lethbridge pitcher Grim Sleva had a large part in his team subduing the Medicine Hat Stampede, 3-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. Johnny Huerta picked up the win in relief for Lethbridge, while Randell Williams took the loss.
Lethbridge got a clutch hit from Gavin Coward. The first baseman launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.
"This was a gut-wrenching loss," said Medicine Hat manager Brantley Johnson, "the kind that'll give you an ulcer."
The first-place Black Diamonds have won 4 in a row.
