The Cheyenne Chiefs beat the Lethbridge Black Diamonds, 8-4, at Ballpark of Cheyenne. The Chiefs got a fine performance from third baseman Yufemio Guzman, who went 2-5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. With the win, Cheyenne goes to 13-18, while the Black Diamonds fall to 17-14.

Bobby Geerts had a big bases-clearing triple for the Chiefs in the bottom of the second inning. With Cheyenne leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Mel Graffanino, who is tied for 3rd in the PIO in quality starts with 5, and swatted a triple to right. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Chiefs ahead, 4-0.

"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Geerts told the Cheyenne Herald. "But we take nothing for granted."
