Sock Puppets Top Brewers, 4-2, Behind Thomas
|
Burlington pitcher Donavan Thomas had a large part in his team subduing the Helena Brewers, 4-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Rocco Williams closed it out for his 5th save. By defeating Helena, the 5th-place Sock Puppets improved to 15-15.
The standout performance belonged to 19-year-old Thomas. With his baby face, he looked more like someone starting for a high school team than for the Sock Puppets. His performance, however, was nothing short of top-notch. The youngster dominated the Brewers, striking out 6 and scattering 1 hit over 7 innings. Thomas is now 1-1 on the season.
Thomas called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
