Rockies Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Pioneers, 6-1
|
The Pocatello Pioneers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Skyler Perret into a win. Instead, the Grand Junction Rockies prevailed, 6-1. Perret threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball. Russ Harper came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. His record now stands at 4-2. With the win, the Rockies hiked their record to 16-13.
Grand Junction used the clutch hitting of Mathew Corrales to snag the win. The right fielder drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rockies ahead, 6-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"I think it speaks for itself, I think we came out and we played our kind of baseball," said Corrales.
