The Helena Brewers got a superb performance from pitcher Sten Kreitz. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Great Falls. The Voyagers won the game, 2-1. Kreitz threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The winner in relief was Ruben Jovel. He is now 3-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. The Voyagers, at 13-11, sit in third place in the Pioneer League North Division.
Great Falls took a 2-0 lead on Alexis Whitfield's 5th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Whitfield hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Helena pitcher Yandy Bermudez visibly frustrated.
"We needed two runs to win," said Voyagers manager Vinny Rodriguez, "and that's what we got."
