Mustangs Tack 4-0 Loss on Butte
|
The Billings Mustangs welcomed the Butte Americans to an afternoon game at Americans Ballpark.
The Butte Americans could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Elias Shorty into a win. Instead, the Billings Mustangs prevailed, 4-0. Shorty threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball. The winner was Billings reliever Edwin Valdez, now 1-0. The loser was Elias Shorty.
Billings used the hitting of Skyler Strum to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Mustangs on top, 2-0. For the game, Strum had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"It's no secret that good defense follows around people who throw strikes," said Billings manager Owen Wood.
The setback makes Butte 10-14.
