White Sox Foil Royals, 3-1
|
The Chicago White Sox weathered an outstanding game by Kansas City first baseman Johnny Peterson to topple the Royals, 3-1. Peterson went 4-4 with 4 singles. Chicago reliever Jeremiah Zacharias picked up the win, while Luke Trammel took the loss for Kansas City. The save went to Hayden Nelson, his 9th this season.
The White Sox got an important contribution from left fielder Gabriel Wright, who in the bottom of the third punched a 0-2 fastball into right-center for a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the White Sox ahead, 3-0.
"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Wright told the Chicago Daily. "And padding the Chicago win column."
Kansas City, now 6-23, continues its tough start.
