The Harlan Smokies defeated the Reidsville Red Sox, 4-3, in Appalachian League action at Pioneer Park. Harlan pitcher Angel Díaz had a standout performance. The triumph puts Harlan at 28-12 for the season.
With the bases empty and one out in the bottom of the fifth inning, pinch hitter Miguel Gomez delivered big for the Smokies. Harlan was trailing 1-0 when he belted a solo home run.
Díaz called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
