Stampede Come Back Late to Clip Chiefs
Medicine Hat Stampede starter Brycen Patrick was on his game, helping his team beat the Cheyenne Chiefs, 3-2. Medicine Hat reliever Garey Griffin picked up the win to move to 1-0. Jonah Snedden suffered the loss. The first-place Stampede improved to 26-11.

Medicine Hat used a clutch hit from Valdinei Lara to snatch the win. The third baseman belted a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Stampede ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was huge.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Lara, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
