Sock Puppets Better Ghosts, 1-0

The Burlington Sock Puppets used a great performance from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Mariano Wescott to beat the Casper Ghosts, 1-0, at Brent Brown Ballpark. Wescott yielded no runs over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 3. His record improves to 1-0. The Sock Puppets, now 2-1, have been playing some good baseball.
The Sock Puppets got a big at-bat from catcher Victor Almonte. For the game, Almonte went 1 for 4 with a home run. In the bottom of the first, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Burlington a 1-0 lead.
"When I go out there," said Wescott, "the last thing I want to do is let my teammates down."
