Helena Tops Rocky Mountain, 6-3

Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Rocky Mountain Vibes home opener. Cory Neal started for the home team against Mattie Shelby for the Helena Brewers. The Vibes were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 6-3, Helena. Cory Neal, though, was impressive. Mattie Shelby went 8 innings for Helena to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs. He scattered 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 12. His record improves to 1-0. Lloyd Shippen collected his 1st save.
Helena used the timely hitting of Bevis McDonnell to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Brewers on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Helena manager Jose Flores was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
