Widmer Excels, But Cannons Win
|
The Calgary Cannons weathered a fine game by Medicine Hat second baseman Bentley Widmer to upend the Stampede, 14-10, at Ballpark of Medicine Hat. Widmer was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 5 runs and driving in 2. Josh Cobb was credited with the save for Calgary, his 1st of the season. Medicine Hat falls to 1-2.
Calgary used the hitting of Bailey Jacobson to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Cannons on top, 4-3. For the game, Jacobson had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Jacobson.
