The Blue Ridge Bulldogs got a magnificent effort from pitcher Woodrow Ballard, who kept River City hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Bulldogs win at Ballpark of River City. The winner in relief was Derek Palmer. He is now 4-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. Blue Ridge now has a record of 48-21 with the win.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jonah Just? The 20-year old first baseman Just stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put Blue Ridge up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We did a lot of really good things and it was a good win," said Bulldogs manager Wynn Love.
