Ozuna Goes Wild, But Jawns Win
|
The home team was supported by a raucous crowd at H.P. Hunnicutt Field.
The Elizabethton Twins could not turn a fine performance from designated hitter Gabriel Ozuna into a win. Instead, the Delco Jawns prevailed, 8-7. Ozuna hit 3 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring three times. The win belonged to Evan Maschhoff in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Jon McNeil took the loss for Elizabethton. Solomon Cucchi notched his 4th save of the season.
Delco took the lead, 8-7, on Judson Bermudes's 6th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Elizabethton pitcher Jon McNeil in the bottom of the eighth.
"It's always extra special to win at home," said Bermudes.
The Jawns sit in second place in the Appalachian League East Division with a record of 39-26.
