Blue Ridge starter Axton O'Brien had a strong outing against the Bristol Pirates at Devault Memorial Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-0 win. Blue Ridge reliever John Rosenberger was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Halstead Bone took the loss. Blue Ridge is third in the Appalachian League East Division with a record of 19-14.
Blue Ridge used a clutch hit from Glen Duval to get the win. The right fielder drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Bulldogs ahead, 4-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a doozy.
"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Duval after the game.
