Soggy conditions did not keep Reidsville and Erwin from playing their scheduled game.

The Reidsville Red Sox topped the Erwin Mountaineers, 4-1, in Appalachian League action at Reidsville Fields. The game was highlighted by the performance of Reidsville pitcher Gabriel Stevens. The Red Sox have an impressive 42-21 record.

Walt Ruiz hit a 2-run double off Samson Horvat in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Red Sox in front, 3-1. In addition to the double, Ruiz had 3 singles, while going 4 for 4.

"When Gabriel is in the zone, it's kind of like -- good luck," said Reidsville manager Jeff Ward.
