Indians Come Up Short at Raleigh, 5-4
|
Kinston designated hitter Curcio Garcia-Diaz had a good game, even if his team did not. The Indians dropped a 5-4 decision to Raleigh at Ballpark of Raleigh. Garcia-Diaz was 2 for 2 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Luis Almanza got the win, improving to 4-4. He held the Indians to 2 runs on 6 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Raleigh is now 27-33, while Kinston is 34-26.
Hector Ortega hit a 3-run home run off Sandro Duran in the bottom of the first, which put the Cubs ahead, 3-0. In addition to the homer, Ortega had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
In postgame comments to the Raleigh Gazette, Ortega said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
