Braves Double Up Yankees, 6-3
|
The Danville Braves finished off the Pulaski Yankees, 6-3. Much of the credit belonged to second baseman Woody Bush. Bush went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Braves. Sven Irwin earned the win, while 23-year old right-handed pitcher Joel Moyer took the loss for Pulaski. Lee Merklein recorded the save for Danville, his 15th of the season.
Danville used a well-timed hit by Normando Govantes to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Braves ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Danville manager Randy Rudolph was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
The win for the Braves raised their record to 35-25.
