Indians Topple Pirates, 5-3
|
The Kinston Indians and Bristol Pirates squared off at Devault Memorial Stadium.
The Kinston Indians topped the Bristol Pirates, 5-3, in Appalachian League action at Devault Memorial Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Kinston pitcher Julio Enrique Maldonado. Andy Edwards, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 10th save.
Kinston used a clutch at-bat from Shepherd Macias to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Indians ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Just glad I could help us get a win," said Maldonado.
With the win, Kinston upped its record to 29-21.
