Rumblers Losers, 4-2, Versus Bluefield
|
The Bluefield Blue Jays topped the River City Rumblers, 4-2, in Appalachian League action at Bowen Field. The standout performance belonged to Bluefield pitcher and Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, native Norse Jones. Jones picked up the win for Bluefield, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 4-1. Bluefield is now 27-18. River City is 17-28.
Nicholas Rumsey had a big 3-run home run for the Blue Jays in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Bluefield leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a changeup from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Kenny Nagel and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Blue Jays on top, 4-0.
