Indians Take Tight Tilt
The Bluefield Blue Jays got a sterling performance from pitcher Ash Kidd, but the Kinston Indians still prevailed, 4-3. Kidd threw 5.1 innings allowing 3 runs. By defeating Bluefield, the 7th-place Indians improved to 20-26.

Kinston used a timely hit from Randy Christiansen to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Indians ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.

Kinston manager Leo Campos commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
