Blue Ridge Bulldogs left fielder Damon Gómez had a day to remember at Ballpark of Blue Ridge, ripping apart the Burlington Royals and sparking the 13-1 Bulldogs win.

Gómez wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-6.

"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Gómez told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."

Damon Gómez singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, singled in the 8th and tripled in the 8th.
