Pedersen Too Tough, Blanks Danville
|
The Hampton Orioles shut out the Danville Braves, 9-0, behind the strong pitching of Carl Pedersen. Pedersen surrendered only 4 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 4.
Following the last out, Pedersen appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Danville manager Troy Bennett, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken left-hander as the clubs left the field. Pedersen's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.
The Braves skipper would not comment on the exchange but, at the Orioles press conference, Pedersen confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.
"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Pedersen said.
"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Hampton manager Kyle Kovac added.
In 10 starts this season, Pedersen has recorded a 5-1 record and a 1.76 ERA.
