The Kinston Indians had to overcome a big game from Harlan center fielder Ezra Peters to leave Ballpark of Kinston with a victory. And they did, winning, 8-7, in 10 innings. Peters went 4 for 6 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Erik Burris, now 1-1, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. Kinston is 16-27 and Harlan, with the loss, 24-19.

The decisive blow was delivered by Erwin Morrison in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a solo home run off 18-year old right-handed pitcher Nicolas Mendoza to win the game for Kinston. The home crowd went nuts.

"It took some blood and sweat, but we got what we were after," said Indians manager Jonathan Lazaro.
