Orioles Suffer 7-1 Road Loss
|
Hampton had no answer for Fayetteville Frogs hurler Christopher Stanton, who overwhelmed Orioles hitters as the Frogs coasted to victory, 7-1. The winning pitcher was Stanton, now 5-2. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. The Frogs now have a record of 27-16.
The Frogs got a big at-bat from shortstop Cornell Mercedes. For the game, Mercedes was 1-5 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Fayetteville a 4-0 lead.
"We had a nice day," said Fayetteville skipper Oscar Ramales.
