5-4 Win Sends Blue Ridge to 36-6

The Blue Ridge Bulldogs did just enough to sneak past the Delco Jawns, 5-4, at Ballpark of Blue Ridge. Blue Ridge pitcher Lonnie Beard, in particular, had a standout performance. John Valentine stitched up the save, his 8th. The Bulldogs boast a remarkable 36-6 record.
Milton Sigrist had a big solo home run for the Bulldogs in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Blue Ridge leading 4-3 and the bases empty, he sized up a changeup from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Broderick Myers and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Bulldogs on top, 5-3.
Sigrist was taciturn after the game. "A win's a win," he said.
