Burlington Drops Another One, 6-3
|
The Erwin Mountaineers grabbed a win, 6-3, over the Burlington Royals at Burlington Athletic Stadium. Erwin left fielder Gabriel Del Castillo was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Burlington now owns a losing streak of 12 games.
Erwin used a clutch at-bat from Sylvester Charles to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Mountaineers ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We gave it the old college try," said Burlington manager Howard Charles. "But the old college try wasn't good enough."
