Twins Upend Indians, 3-0

The Elizabethton Twins knocked off the Kinston Indians, 3-0, in Appalachian League action at Ballpark of Kinston. Elizabethton pitcher and Sachse, Texas, native Jimmy Jay Ericksen had an outstanding performance. Ericksen, now 6-2, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Mitch Knoll closed it out for his 3rd save.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Markus Muscarella? The Elizabethton catcher had a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Twins on top, 2-0. For the game, Muscarella had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Jimmy Jay is tough to beat when he's hitting his spots," said Elizabethton manager Toby Staiano.
The Twins go to 26-12, putting them third in the Appalachian League West Division.
