3-1 Win Takes Twins to 19-17
|
Joe O'Brien Field was the site of a tense game between the River City Rumblers and Elizabethton Twins.
The bats were silent much of the day at Joe O'Brien Field. But 22-year old center fielder Rodney Charles produced just enough offense to carry the Twins past the River City Rumblers, 3-1. Charles hit 2 home runs. Scott Morel finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
Henry Good drew 1 walk for Elizabethton. The 20-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Buck Hagemann. It was his 22nd RBI of the season.
Good said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
The third-place Twins lifted their record to 19-17.
