Braves Deal Yankees 5-3 Loss
|
The Danville Braves spoiled a good performance by Pulaski shortstop Stan Nunnink, bumping off Pulaski, 5-3, at Calfee Park. Nunnink was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Ethan Shirey picked up the win with 5.2 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 4-0. Liam Hewitt closed out the game, earning his 5th save.
Danville used the hitting of Johnny Corrales to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Braves on top, 5-1. For the game, Corrales had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We ground out the win," said Corrales. "That's all that matters."
The Braves now have a record of 17-19.
