Miners LF Benonisen belts 2 home runs in Win
|
Elijah Benonisen impressed in the 7-6 Welch win over Delco. Benonisen, who is tied for 10th in the APP in runs scored with 20, went 2-4 with 2 home runs and was hit by a pitch, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Welch pitcher Sheldon Lilley earned the win, hiking his record to 2-1. Sebastian Sackson suffered the loss. Donnel Fiore picked up the save, his 7th.
Early in the game, Benonisen had a 3-run home run for Welch. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Miners on top, 3-0.
Benonisen told reporters after the game: "This one was touch and go, but we were able to put it in the win column."
The 5th-place Miners are now 15-18, the Jawns 18-15.
