Miners Upend Orioles, 4-3
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Hampton Orioles and Welch Miners get after it.
Hampton left fielder Michael Freimark had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Freimark was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once, even as Welch beat the Orioles, 4-3. Julian De Kock was the winner. He's now 3-2. The loser was 21-year old right-handed pitcher Joshua Jablonski. Manny Gerber nailed down his 8th save.
Ryder Van Rhee had a big 2-run home run for the Miners in the bottom of the second inning. With Welch leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Joshua Jablonski, who is tied for 5th in the APP with a 0.82 WHIP, and swatted a home run to right. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Miners ahead, 4-0.
"I'm not out here to win a beauty contest," said Van Rhee. "Obviously."
The loss makes Hampton 23-10.
