4-2 Win by Orioles Continues Hot Start
|
The Hampton Orioles got a stellar performance from pitcher Dimitri Sotolongo, who handcuffed the Welch offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Welch Fields. Picking up the save was 20-year old right-handed pitcher R.J. Leger. At 22-9, the Orioles have a slim two-game lead in the Appalachian League West Division.
Hampton needed the clutch hitting of Ethan Bryan to seal the deal. The second baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Orioles on top, 3-1. For the game, Bryan had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Bryan told the Hampton Citizen.
