Blue Jays Win, 3-1, Over Kingsport
|
Pitcher Von Salzillo was rock solid in helping the Bluefield Blue Jays beat the Kingsport Mets, 3-1. The winner was Salzillo. He threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Noel Williams. The Mets have now dropped 6 straight.
Bluefield used a well-timed hit by Seth McGinnis to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I believe in our guys," said Bluefield skipper Lance Rivera. "I like the energy they're playing with."
